Is immitation flattery?

Some people may say it is, and it is a very flattering thought in itself. However, IMHO, imitation is weakness, meaning, lack of ability to think for yourself. In America, we seem to have a society in which we adore people who are just like us, and put them on a pedestal. Sometime we forget to hold people to a higher standard than ours, simply because we are afraid they may be quotbetter than usquot. We forget to praise free thinkers and doers other than celebrities, of course . Besides, I think it would be annoying and embarassing to have someone try to be just like me, or imitate another group in which they are not. I dont want some quotwanna bequot clone on my shirttail, no! Be yourself! Embrace where you came from, how you were brought up, and your personal beliefs and morals!
